The company said easy integration

between various systems is the way of

the future. For example, independent

hotel owners with little understanding

of the technology in general may be

concerned about disrupting the status

quo. Nevertheless, they still need

to remain up to date to meet guest

demands.

“Compatibility, ease of integration

and quick time for installation and

onboarding is critical to maintain

operations for the hotel owners,”

StayiQ said. “By prioritizing easy

integration, hotels can unlock the

full potential of their technology

investments, leading to improved

operations, enhanced guest satisfaction

and sustained business growth.”

Dayal said independent hoteliers

may have more flexibility to choose

what software to use because brands

may have certain mandates in place.

At the same time, some brands

are recognizing the need for easy

consolidation.

Exploring all options

Hotel franchisers, such as Wyndham

Hotels & Resorts and Red Roof,

continue to upgrade the technology

they make available to their owners.

Wyndham recently began offering

payment processor Elavon’s cloud

payments interface to more than 6,000

franchisees in the U.S. and Canada. Red

Roof is contracting with FreedomPay to

provide payments across its portfolio

of more than 700 hotels in the U.S. Both

companies say it’s important to them to

be able to integrate new platforms such

features,” said Josh Dow, Wyndham’s

vice president for hotel technology

strategy and services. “Elavon has been

a great example of this. The cloud-

based payment system connected

flawlessly with both Oracle’s Opera and

Sabre’s Property Hub, and everything

performed just as expected. With

the right partners, integrating new

solutions into our existing platforms is

an efficient and reliable process.”

Hotels under Wyndham’s 25 brands

can use Elavon’s CPI without on-

site hardware for their property

management systems. It is designed

to reduce operational overhead, limit

hardware-related security issues and

support mobile check-in, Elavon said in

a statement.

Franchisees can use CPI to access

payment services that adjust to

changing operational needs, the

statement said. Benefits include

integration with cloud-based third-

party software—such as property

management systems, reservation

platforms and loyalty programs—as

well as encryption and tokenization

technologies to protect transactions.

Dow said Wyndham franchisees

expect a connected ecosystem of

as these to their franchisees’ existing

stacks.

“At Wyndham, we work with partners

who can integrate seamlessly with

our systems and support real-time

data exchange. That kind of flexibility

is essential for us, especially when it

comes to meeting evolving compliance

requirements or rolling out new

Sharee Brell, Red Roof’s senior vice president of technology, said the company works with third-party

technology providers to provide the operational capabilities franchisees have come to expect.
